I've been contemplating doing a blog for a while now, and being layed up at home is a pretty good time I'm thinking. What else am I going to anyway while I recover??
For those who may not know, I ended up taking a "wonderful" ambulance ride to the hosptial this past saturday morning because my back went out on Friday, and by Saturday, I coudlnt' move. I had been up earlier at about 8:30am and took 2 vicodin, a muscle relaxant, and 800mg ibuprofen, and it didn't even TOUCH the pain. So, I ended up calling the ambulance to take me in. (and like my hubby said- PLEASE don't call this particular town's ambulance service if you are dying.) They were quick to arrive, but... a little slow to figure things out- I was offered pain meds by 1 person only to be told that they dont' have those on the ambulance. The driver wasn't sure how to GET to the hosptial.... It was kind of like a 3 ring circus really. The kids all thought it was pretty neat to see them come in and carry mom away though. All 4 were standing in a line telling me they loved me and they'll see me later.
Hubby TRIED to help me get my pants on before they got there, but... there was NO WAY I could lift my butt off the bed to get them up. So.... We resorted to folding them up and placing them on TOP of my underwear. For anyone who had to see that- I'm really sorry! LOL I sleep comfortably. I'm also glad I sleep with a t-shirt on! ;-) Oh, and for anyone who may have driven by while they hauled me out like this before covering me... again, I'm very sorry. ;-)
After my arrival at the hosptial, I laid on the rock hard backboard for a good hour while in tears until the dr. could give the OK that there wee no other injuries. I just saw them the day before for the same issue- but this time it was worse, and pulling weeds in the garden did NOT cause me to get "additional injuries" I'm POSITIVE! But... gotta go by policy I guess. Ugggg.... They gave me some GREAT pain meds first, and then got me onto the bed in the ER. They had done x-rays the day before, so the next would be an MRI- which they coudlnt' do until Monday, or the CAT scan, so... they did the CAT scan and found nothing there either. I spent the rest of Sat. and all of Sunday in the hospital because even after my meds, I still couldn't walk unless I was COMPLETELY bent over, holding onto my thighs to hold all my weight off my back. This was how I got around from Friday evening til 3am when I last got up to get my meds. NOT a comfortable way to walk to say the least!
So.... That brings us to today. I've been taking it easy today. I feel terrible, as it was SOOO windy out today my allergies would have gotten the best of me within a few minutes, and there's nothing I can DO outside- like weeding, gardening, picking up, etc. but yet I still feel the need to be ABLE to do SOMETHING. Boy. Most days I'd LOVE to just sit around and do nothing, but.... when that's all I CAN do, I want to get up. Life is DIFFICULT sometimes!! LOL
